Real questions. Real answers.
Everything you'd want to know before calling D&E Handyman.
What kind of work does D&E Handyman do?
We handle the projects that fall between "small repair" and "full general contractor." That includes painting, drywall repair, flooring installation, trim and finish carpentry, cabinet and countertop installs, custom shelving, pressure washing, furniture assembly, and the long list of small repairs that build up over time. If it's cosmetic, repair, or installation work inside or outside the home, we probably handle it.
Do you charge for estimates?
No. Estimates are 100% free with no obligation. Most quotes go out within 24 hours of your first call, and same-day quotes are available for many smaller projects.
What areas do you serve in Sarasota and Manatee County?
We serve all of Sarasota County and Manatee County, including Sarasota, Bradenton, Lakewood Ranch, Venice, Osprey, Nokomis, Siesta Key, Longboat Key, Palmetto, Parrish, Ellenton, and Myakka City. If you're nearby and not listed, give us a call — we'll usually still come out.
Who runs D&E Handyman?
D&E Handyman is owner-operated by Barbaro Eduardo Hernandez (goes by Eduardo). Eduardo personally handles your project — no subcontractors, no rotating crews, no surprises about who's showing up at your door.
How quickly can you start a project?
Most small projects can be scheduled within the same week. Quick repairs are often handled same-day or next-day. Larger projects depend on scope — we'll give you a clear timeline with your estimate so there are no surprises.
How do you price jobs?
Most jobs are priced as a flat rate based on scope, materials, and time required. You see the full price before any work starts — no surprise line items. For longer projects we can break it down by phase. We don't bill by the hour unless you specifically request a small handyman call.
Do you handle the materials, or do I need to buy them?
Either works. Most clients let us source materials so we can hit the right grade and color. If you've already bought materials (paint, flooring, fixtures), we'll work with what you have — just include that detail when you request your estimate.
Can you tackle multiple small projects in one visit?
Absolutely — that's our specialty. Drop us your "honey-do" list and we'll knock it out in a single visit. Bundling small jobs is usually cheaper than booking separate trips.
Do you do work in rental properties or for landlords?
Yes. We work with several local landlords and property managers in Sarasota and Bradenton on turnover repairs, paint refreshes, and tenant fixes. We can coordinate access directly with tenants and email itemized invoices for each unit.
What payment methods do you accept?
Cash, check, Zelle, Venmo, and major credit cards. For larger projects we typically take a deposit at scheduling and the balance on completion.
Do you guarantee your work?
Yes. If something we installed or repaired isn't right, we come back and fix it. Workmanship is backed by our 100% satisfaction guarantee, and we stand behind every project.
Can you help with hurricane prep or post-storm repairs?
Yes. We help homeowners across Sarasota and Manatee County with pre-storm prep (sealing, weather-stripping, screen reinforcement, securing exterior items) and post-storm repairs (drywall, paint touch-ups, fence boards, screen replacements, water-damage cosmetic fixes). For active emergency response or insurance-claim work, call us first to confirm scope.
What's the fastest way to get a quote?
The fastest way is to call us at (941) 623-7846. We answer most calls live during business hours. You can also fill out our quote form and we'll respond within 24 hours — usually much sooner. Photos of the project speed things up dramatically.
